Mappus Horribilis

Dee will know what I'm talking about here.

The last couple of months at work have been consumed by designing a map for one of our Incident Control Centres. It's a 1:50K beast that covers the geographical area the ICC covers. End size was 2.4 metres high x 3.5 metres wide.

It has not been smooth sailing. Between processing power issues, data integrity issues, and just in general the pages upon pages of changes that various people wanted, it has been interesting to say the least.

So yesterday was a momentus day, heading to the printer to pick it up, ready for installation. $2000 of printing and $3000 worth of laminating, block mounting and carpentry, and it's nearly ready to actually get put on a wall!

One of three map tiles - 2.4 high, 1.2 ish wide

Just to give you some perspective of the size of the thing. Stupid eyes closed photo.
