For a year that wasn't going to involve a great deal of racing, there appears to be a great deal of racing going on.
The next two weeks bring the Wagga 3+3 (fancy way of saying a 6 hour race), then the weekend after a 24 hour race in Canberra - Sparrow Hill, out towards Bungendore, if you're familiar. I'm looking forward to both - the course at Wagga is one of my favourites, but the tracks at Sparrow Hill are off the Richter scale in terms of 'fun' rideability. So whichever way this goes, it's going to be a fun couple of weeks!
The Wagga format has changed from a 3 hour to the 3+3 format. Slightly different to a 6 hour, in that any lap finished after the 6 hour mark will not count. So you need to take a punt about going out on the last lap, whether or not it will be worth it.
I'm saddling up as a pair with my mate Tim, and a grudge match will be on between Tim & I ("Cheap Schtick") vs Lisa & Alison ("Skin & Bone"). This is a very, very even match, and anything could break the race - even a flat tyre and this could all be over. Pride - and beer - is on the line.
And in forward news, I'll be racing the "Australian 6 Hour Championships" at Forrest in July. Don't be fooled by the name, it's just the host club's way of big noting themselves a little. Not fussed - there's very little chance of me being "Australian Champion" of anything. But the trails at Forrest rock, and I've signed up to ride it solo, which will be my first official 6 hour solo attempt.
Should be a great turnout, I've got a couple of mates coming across from Adel for the race, plus a few of the usual suspects.
